Droppings Tracker
A drop in droppings is the earliest sign of gut stasis you can see at home — and the number is easy to miss by eye. Photograph the day's output and the app counts and measures it, or just type the number in.
Tip the day's droppings onto a plain white A4 or Letter sheet and shoot from straight above. The sheet is what makes this work: it gives the contrast to count against, and because its size is known, the app can also measure how big the pellets are.

This tracker can raise a concern; it can never tell you your rabbit is well. A rabbit can be seriously ill while still passing normal droppings. If anything about your rabbit worries you, call a rabbit-savvy vet — do not wait for a number to change.
Why this exists
A rabbit hides being ill until hiding it stops working
They are prey animals: looking weak is what gets you eaten, so they stay bright and normal-looking through a great deal of pain. By the time a rabbit obviously looks unwell, it has usually been unwell for a while. That is the single hardest thing about keeping them, and it is why owners so often say the same sentence afterwards — he seemed completely fine yesterday.
What it does
- Counts the droppings in a photo for you, so a daily log takes seconds instead of counting by hand.
- Keeps the count, the size and the day, and shows you the trend rather than one number in isolation.
- Flags the shape of a problem — fewer, smaller, or none — while it is still a trend and not yet a crisis.
- Turns months of logs into a record you can hand a vet, which is worth more than anything you will remember under stress.
What it will not do
The tracker is a log, not a diagnosis, and a normal day here is not a promise that everything is fine. A rabbit that has stopped eating, is sitting hunched, or has produced nothing for hours needs a vet now, whatever the chart shows.
Why droppings, of all things
Because they are the earliest thing a rabbit cannot hide. Gut movement stops before the rabbit looks ill, and what comes out changes before the rabbit acts differently — so the litter tray tells you days earlier than the rabbit does. It is also the only health signal you can collect without handling, stressing or restraining an animal that finds all three frightening.
Takes about ten seconds a day. The value is entirely in the days you would have called unremarkable.
